ABOUT

Our motto is we run, we raise, we rise.

We work on introducing more black people into sports spaces where they rarely appear. We take part in The Big Half Marathon annually and during lockdown we did a virtual walk, run or cycle challenge and raised £3000 for a South African charity called Icons Journey Foundation, based in the eastern cape. The Icons Journey Foundation buys shoes for school children in all the schools Nelson Mandela studied in, following his footsteps.

Every Saturday we take part in Parkruns and we currently have about 20 members training for London Marathon and are fundraising for charities which work in South Africa and Uganda. In 2021 we organised a group of 500 South Africans to go to Cardiff,Wales and watch Springboks vs Wales. We recorded songs (amagwijo) on Spotify and sang in harmony, so loudly that we saved Springbok from losing. We also had Brian Habana come to talk at our dinner, the night before the game.

We have the London Marathon this year, one of our biggest fundraising events. This will be a trial for our future plans, we want to have a normal runner from each African Country representing their country and fundraising for a charity from their country.
